Access From Outside the Continental United States If you are accessing America Online from Hawaii, Alaska, or Canada, you will not be able to use the automatic toll-free registration feature. But, don't despair: setting up is not difficult. You need to first: - Read the Help file entitled "Setting Up Your Modem" - Then, be ready to look for a local access number in one of the following three Help files: numbers for Alaska/Hawaii; Datapac numbers for Canada; or Tymnet numbers for Canada After you've read those files: -Select the button labeled "I'm dialing from Canada, Hawaii, or Alaska" which is several screens into the toll-free sign-on sequence. This will automatically bring up the Help files. -After you've reviewed the Help files, you'll next see the manual set up screen. Make the changes described in the Help files and save them. -Then, sign on. PLEASE NOTE: There is a telecommunications surcharge for access from outside the continental United States. To verify the current prices, check the Members Online Guide in the What's New & Online Support area online.
